Art Program

The art program at Midreshet HaRova is designed both to give students guidance in a variety of art forms and techniques and to teach students a form of self-expression that can be used to enhance their learning and living as Jewish women.

Art ProgramThe program includes 2 components:

  1. a series of weekly projects that expose the girls to a variety of techniques and allows them to experiment with materials, styles and mediums including painting, sculpture,
  2. work on individual art pieces of each student's choice

All students participate in both individual work, and a group project of the group's choice including several wonderful contributions to the beautification of the facility of the Midrasha, and the perpetuation of the memory of students from each year.  Visitors to the Midrasha can enjoy the lovely mosaic tile mural of our art course students of 5766 which is prominently displayed in the main building entry hall.

While many of the girls who choose to participate are highly talented, the course is open to all, including those with little or no previous experience.  Our only requirement for participation is a commitment to the course, and a serious approach to the material at hand - plus a willingness to be part of the cleanup after each project!

Art Program

The Art course is marked by an open and cooperative group atmosphere which encourages creativity, and a real exploration of themes in Jewish self-expression.  Weekly projects generally center on the yearly cycle of the Jewish calendar, with individual work open to a broader, self-generated series of themes.  Our goal is to create beautiful projects that are at once aesthetically pleasing and practical.

Throughout all parts of the course, active discussion on  how art issues relate to the world of dati women is both instigated and encouraged .

We are proud that this year, 5768, many students from our course handed in contributions to the new Art Competition inaugurated by Yeshiva University.
